Strong Bodies, Steady Minds: Helping Athletes Build a Healthy Relationship With Food, Body & Sport

June 28th | 4pm PST/7pm EST

A conversation with Kara Bazzi, LMFT, CEDS, Co-Founder of Opal

In this free online training, you’ll learn what’s shaping your athlete’s relationship with food and their body, and how to have conversations that build confidence, trust, and long-term well-being.

The messages athletes receive about their bodies start early.

Athletes are surrounded by messages about what they should eat, how they should train, and what an “athlete’s body” should look like.

As parents, we want our kids to feel strong and confident, but these conversations can feel complicated.

Should I comment on what they’re eating?

How do I encourage healthy habits without creating pressure?

What do I say when my athlete criticizes their body?

This conversation will help parents better understand how to support their athletes as they navigate food, performance, confidence, and their changing bodies.

      In this training, you’ll learn:

✓ How sport, fitness culture, and outside messages shape the way athletes think about food and their bodies

✓ How to talk about fueling and performance in a way that supports confidence and health

✓ What to say (and what not to say) when your athlete is struggling with body confidence

✓ The role parents play in helping athletes build body trust, resilience, and a healthier relationship with sport

      Hosted by LEAP Mental Performance

At LEAP Mental Performance, we help athletes understand their minds, build confidence, and develop the tools to navigate pressure in sport and life.

Through science-backed mindset training, athletes learn how to manage nerves, shift self-talk, bounce back from mistakes, and build a stronger relationship with themselves as competitors.

Because confidence isn’t just about performing better.

It’s about helping athletes trust who they are, both in and out of sport.

      • “Before LEAP, pressure felt overwhelming and one mistake could throw everything off. Now she can manage her nerves, reset, and compete with a calmer, more confident mindset. She’s also much kinder to herself.”

        — Jenni, Parent of a 12-year-old free skier

      • “She’s enjoying her sport again and not as hard on herself. She moves through mistakes without everything falling apart and feels more like herself.”

        - Mum of 14 year old multi-sport athlete

      • “I’ve seen a real shift in how she handles tough moments. In games that weren’t going well, she stayed focused and kept going until the final buzzer. A few months earlier, she would have shut down. Seeing her stay in it has meant a lot.”
