NSGSC X LEAP PEER LEADERS
Train the mental game with your team.
You and your co-leader have one simple job:
Lead one short LEAP Rep with your team each week.
You don't need to be an expert or have all the answers. Start the conversation, lead the rep and practise it with your team.
Your coach is learning the same LEAP skills and language, so you're doing this together.
3 MINUTES. ONE MENTAL SKILL. ONCE A WEEK.
THE LEAP 20 REP CHALLENGE
Your team's challenge this season is to complete 20 LEAP Reps.
Every rep counts. Every team can get to 20.
The goal isn't to be perfect at mental performance. The goal is to practise it.
MONTH 1: FOUNDATION
GOAL → INTENTION → NOTICE → RESET
This month starts with where your team wants to go. Then you'll practice bringing your attention to what you can do today, noticing what happens under pressure, and learning how to reset.
-
YOUR COACH LEADS THIS ONE
Your job is to join in, help your teammates contribute and capture what your team decides.
ASK
Where do we want to go as a team this season?
Then:
What do WE need to consistently do to give ourselves the best chance of getting there?
REMEMBER
OUTCOME = where we want to go
PROCESS = what we can doChoose 3–5 things your team can control.
AT PRACTICE
Choose ONE team action to notice and reinforce today.
✓ DONE? Nice work. Log your rep below.
-
CONNECT IT
Last week you talked about where you want to go as a team. You get there through what you do consistently.
ASK
"What's ONE thing we want to work on today?"
A good intention is:
SPECIFIC • CONTROLLABLE • OBSERVABLE
Instead of:
Be confident → Call for the ball.
Play well → Commit to our first move.
AT PRACTICE
Keep bringing the team back to today's intention.
FINISH
"What evidence did we see that we worked on it?"
-
Pressure, mistakes and frustration can change how we think, feel and play.
Before we can do something about it, we have to notice it.
ASK
"What tends to take you out of your game?"
A mistake?
A bad call?
The score?
Getting subbed?
A teammate's reaction?THEN ASK
"How do you know it's happening?"
What do you notice in your:
BODY?
THOUGHTS?
PLAY?AT PRACTICE
Everyone chooses ONE thing to notice today.
Don't try to fix it yet. Just notice it.
FINISH
"What did you notice today?"
-
CONNECT IT
Last week you noticed what can take you out of your game.
Today you're going to practise how to get back in.
BUILD YOUR RESET
1. BREATHE
Take one intentional breath. Give yourself a moment.2. SAY
Choose a short, useful phrase.Next one. Right here. Go again. Attack.
3. MOVE
Choose a physical reset.Socks. Hands. Ponytail. Chest tap.
TRY IT
Everyone chooses their own:
BREATHE + SAY + MOVE
Practise it once together.
AT PRACTICE
Mistakes are opportunities to practise getting back in.
Your team cue is:
RESET.
FINISH
"When did you reset well today?"
LOG YOUR REP
Did you complete today's LEAP Rep?
Nice work. Add it to your team's 20 Rep Challenge.
QUICK REMINDER FOR LEADERS
Keep it short.
You only need a few minutes.
Ask, don't lecture.
Get your teammates talking.
Go first.
Be willing to try it too.
Don't fix people.
You're leading a rep, not solving someone's problems.
Make it real.
Connect the skill to what your team is doing at practice.
And if you're not sure? Ask your coach. You're doing this together.
